Snack on Seeds for These Six Stupendous Health Benefits

We listened to your comments, and we’re excited to announce the launch of our first all-seed product: Pumpkin Spice Protein Bites!  Packed with pumpkin seeds, squash seed protein, and warming spices, Pumpkin Spice Protein Bites are a delicious fall snack for long-lasting, plant-based energy.  We couldn’t have created Pumpkin Spice without some stupendous seeds, so this post is dedicated to pumpkin and squash seeds, and all of their health benefits.

1.     Protein: Pumpkin and squash seeds have 9 g of protein per quarter cup, more than nuts!  Pretty solid for plant-based protein.

2.     Fiber: Seeds are packed with fiber, which slows down the digestion of carbohydrates.  When carbohydrates are digested slower, they enter the bloodstream at a steadier rate, resulting in longer-lasting energy.  Fiber also promotes feelings of fullness, so snacking on seeds will help fill the hunger void whether you’re eating them between meals or before a workout.

3.     Heart Health: Seeds are a good source of folate, a B vitamin that may protect against heart disease. Seeds also contain potassium, which can fight  high blood pressure.

4.     Antimicrobial: Pumpkin seeds have antifungal properties and have been used in traditional treatments for parasites as well.

5.     Antioxidants: Pumpkin and squash seeds contain a range of antioxidants including vitamin E, selenium, and beta-carotene, which help prevent damage to cells and DNA brought on by diet, the environment, and normal body processes like metabolism.

6.     Supports Mood: Low levels of selenium have been linked to anxiety and depression, and seeds are packed full of selenium.

We hope you enjoy our Pumpkin Spice Protein Bites a little more knowing that these seeds have your back.  Just make sure to head over to our Products page to snatch some jars before they turn into actual pumpkins!
